Taking our time to get to Pitlochry we drove through Killecrankie Pass which saw a battle between Jacobites and King William supporters in 1689 (First Jacobite Uprising). The Highlanders swept down on the government forces in fierce hand to hand combat which saw around 2,000 killed before they fled. It had little impact on the uprising overall as these same highlanders were defeated soon after.
Pitlochry is a really lovely town with a dammed river and a "salmon ladder" to enable the fish to move up and down past it. After and early dinner we spent the evening at the local theatre watching a play which was part of their annual festival.
